Safelite Group Earns 2013 American Business Award for Corporate Social Responsibility Program

Safelite recognized with Bronze level award

COLUMBUS, Ohio – June 28, 2013 - Safelite® Group has been recognized with the Bronze level 2013 American Business AwardSM in the Corporate Social Responsibility Program category.

Safelite® Group is a multi-faceted vehicle glass organization employing nearly 10,000 people throughout the U.S. at more than 500 retail outlets, 91 warehouses, one manufacturing plant and two distribution centers. Safelite® is committed to being a socially responsible company. That includes following a strict code of ethics, being aware of its impact on the environment, and charitable giving.

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. More than 3,200 nominations were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories. The winners were selected by more than 320 executives nationwide who participated in the judging process this year.

“One of the things we are most proud of is our windshield recycling program,” said Dino Lanno, Safelite’s senior vice president of supply chain and manufacturing. “Once fully implemented, we expect to save 15,000 to 20,000 tons of material going to landfills every year.”

Another element of Safelite’s Corporate Social Responsibility program is the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation, which is the giving arm of the company. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated more than $5 million to nonprofits. In addition to fundraising, Safelite® donates one percent of its trading profits to the Foundation annually.

The last component of Safelite’s Corporate Social Responsibility program is its “People Powered” integrated talent development program, which includes a commitment to a set of corporate values. All employees complete Safelite’s ethics policy training and are provided with an Ethics Hotline Wallet Card. Safelite® also demonstrates business ethics through attention to safety, health and wellness, and employee feedback.
