Safelite® Hosts Toys for Tots Drives at Connecticut Locations

New toys may be dropped off Dec. 2 to 14

HARTFORD, CT – Nov. 25, 2013 - As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the local communities where its employees live and work, Safelite AutoGlass® is hosting Marine Toys for Tots drives from Dec. 2 to 14 at its locations throughout Connecticut. Safelite® encourages its employees and local residents to drop off new and unwrapped toys to its locations in East Hartford, New London, Bridgeport, North Haven and Waterbury, Connecticut.

“I am proud to work for a company that is so committed to supporting Connecticut’s communities. Toys for Tots drives are a great way for our employees and local residents to brighten the holidays for children who might otherwise not receive a gift,” said Jamie Donais, Hartford General Manager, Safelite AutoGlass®. “At Safelite, we take a three-pronged approach to corporate social responsibility – ethics, environment and charity. We focus on being a good community partner in everything we do.”

The Toys for Tots drives are being held as part of the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of local families through monetary and in-kind contributions and volunteer hours.

Since its inception in 2005, the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation has donated more than $5 million to non-profit organizations. Set up as a separate entity governed by company employees, the Foundation administers giving on behalf of Safelite® and its employees. The Foundation disburses aid to approved causes or charities, and organizes many giving initiatives in communities where our associates live and work. For more information, download the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation fact sheet.

Safelite’s Connecticut team regularly donates their time and money to support local causes and charities in Connecticut, including the Sandy Hook Foundation, Ability Beyond Disability and Connecticut’s Children Hospital. At Safelite®, each employee is given two paid days off for local volunteering efforts, which is equivalent to more than 1,700 man hours in Connecticut. In addition to donating their time, employees are also committed to reducing the company’s impact on the environment. This year alone, Safelite’s Connecticut facilities have recycled more than 150 tons of windshields which is equivalent to 67,089 average bricks.
