Chief Financial Officer Awarded Best of Best Honor
Columbus, OH - September 11, 2009 -Doug Herron, chief financial officer, is featured in an article in today's Columbus Business First for his selection as an honorable mention recipient as CFO of the Year. This award was presented yesterday in front of a group of 500 Central Ohio area business leaders.
"It was a privilege to participate in this event and personally witness Doug receiving this outstanding recognition from his peers," said Tom Feeney, president and CEO. "It comes as no surprise to me that Doug received this award because he is a world class CFO and I know I speak for all our associates in saying we are fortunate he is on our team."
Herron was one of 12 finalists, out of a pool of 60 nominees. He received recognition in the large, privately-held company category thanks to a nomination Feeney submitted in July.
"I've known and worked with Doug for 18 years," expressed Feeney in the letter that he submitted for Doug's nomination. "I've admired him for his financial and business acumen, and his thoughtful approach to changes and how they affect associates. On a personal level, I've appreciated Doug's humor and the unique perspective he provides. He is a trusted advisor who challenges me to think in new and different ways about our company and its growth."
The nominations were compiled by the newspaper and submitted to four independent judges chosen to review the candidates. According to the newspaper, judges considered several factors in their decision-making, including financial management exhibited by the candidate, strategic thinking and the CFO's contribution to the company's reputation.
David Lauer, former president of Bank One and one of the judges of the contest, called Doug "an outstanding leader who has gone through several transformations of the company and given greatly to the community."
Other organizations receiving recognition include the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, American Electric Power, Crane Group Companies, Sophisticated Systems Inc., Signature Worldwide Inc., Nationwide Children's Hospital, American Red Cross of Greater Columbus and Goodwill Columbus.
