Safelite Leading Partner in NASCAR Angels Episode
COLUMBUS, Ohio - April 1, 2008 - Safelite AutoGlass replaced or repaired windshields in 15 damaged vehicles of the faculty and staff members of a Las Vegas elementary school as part of an upcoming episode of "NASCAR Angels" taped Feb. 25 and to be broadcast nationwide on more than 200 television stations the weekend of April 26-27. The mission of the "NASCAR Angels," a nationally syndicated half-hour weekly reality-based television show, is to help people in need with car repairs - from new brakes to complete overhauls. The crew completes each project in three days with the help of NASCAR partners, which include Columbus-based Safelite AutoGlass.
This week's episode focused on helping 65 teachers and staff at Dr. C. Owen Roundy Elementary School in Las Vegas. Safelite donated all materials and labor for repairing eight windshields and completely replacing another seven for staff of the elementary. Additional services performed for the staff included new tires, oil changes and fluid checks. "The staff members at Roundy Elementary School have incredibly valuable jobs, and it's our pleasure to handle windshield repairs or replacements for them," said Dan Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Belron US, the parent company of Safelite AutoGlass. "We are proud of our associates and the fact that we have a very civic-minded culture. We are happy to be able to partner with NASCAR to give back to the community."
Roundy Elementary was chosen to be featured in the episode because of its year-long racing theme, "On the Road to Success," carried throughout the school's programs. The program, which will be highlighted in the episode of NASCAR Angels, focuses on mentoring and teaching students how to set and achieve goals, with an emphasis on enhancing their reading skills.
Safelite AutoGlass is part of Belron US, the nation's largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company. NASCAR Angels is hosted by former NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion and current ABC/ESPN broadcaster Rusty Wallace along with NASCAR.COM spokesperson Shannon Wiseman. NASCAR Angels is produced in partnership by NASCAR and MagicDust Television and is distributed nationally by Litton Entertainment.
