Belron US Announces Teams for London Triathlon
Twelve U.S. employees participating, race benefits HIV/Aids orphan support organization
COLUMBUS, Ohio - July 25, 2008 - Twelve Belron US employees were recently selected to represent the company in the Mazda London Triathlon Aug. 9 and 10 to raise money for Ma'Afrika Tikkun, an organization benefiting children and orphans in South Africa.
Initially, 41 Belron US employees expressed an interest in representing the company in this year's triathlon. The field was narrowed to 12 to have enough swimmers, cyclists and runners to make four three-person teams.
Last year, more than 600 Belron employees from around the world took part in the London Triathlon and raised more than $730,000 for Ma'Afrika Tikkun. Belron has been involved in the triathlon for seven years and this is the second year of involvement for Belron US.
"We are excited that this team of associates will be" said Tom Feeney, president and chief executive officer of Belron US. "This is a wonderful event for a good cause, and it's a great opportunity for this team to meet our Belron family from around the globe."
Team 1 will consist of:
- Todd Hoffman, general manager, Louisville, Kentucky
- Brian Ehrlich, logistics coordinator, Columbus, Ohio
- Jenny Kipker, treasury analyst, Columbus, Ohio
Team 2 will consist of:
- Chuck Pratt, assistant manager, Denver, Colorado
- Jason Silva, technician, Phoenix, Arizona
- Brent Fiegel, warehouse lead associate, Davenport, Iowa
Team 3 will consist of:
- Matt Weger, IT director, Columbus, Ohio
- Paul Koehler, IT director, Columbus, Ohio
- Brian DiMasi, senior corporate counsel, Columbus, Ohio
Team 4 will consist of:
- Lisandro Tupete, service representative, Newark, New Jersey
- Geoff Baker, assistant manager, Fort Collins, Colorado
- Jermaine Washington, general manager, Indianapolis, Indiana
The Belron teams will compete at the Olympic distance:
- 1,500meter swim (approximately one mile)
- 40-kilomter bike (approximately 25 miles)
- 10-kilomter run (approximately 6.2 miles)
