Charitable Pledges Soar as Employees Compete

Columbus, OH - December 30, 2008 -Another year, another successful charitable campaign. Safelite AutoGlass, the nation's leading vehicle glass repair and replacement company, is proud to report its employee participation in the annual United Way of Central Ohio campaign totaled 93 percent in 2008 up from 71 percent in 2007.

Safelite AutoGlass employees responded to the program in record numbers, driving company-wide participation to the highest it has been since the program's inception in 1991.

The 1,282 employees who participated pledged more than $157,000 during the campaign week and raised another $9,000 with special events held during a week designated for fundraising activities at the end of 2008. Safelite AutoGlass, a member of United Way's leadership group, matched the first $40,000 of its employees' pledges for a total company commitment of more than $206,000.

"In a time where most people are cutting-back on their spending, I couldn't be more proud of the record number of employees who pledged their time and money to those less fortunate," said Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Belron US the parent company of Safelite AutoGlass. "Coming together to celebrate a cause is what it's all about."

This year, one of the most exciting events was the "Pie in the Face" competition, in which employees bid on the honor of throwing a pie in the face of one of Safelite AutoGlass' top leaders. The "Manager's Obstacle Course" also drew much attention with two top company leaders competing in a chair race around various obstacles.
