The workman arrived about 15 minutes later than scheduled, but did call ahead and provided notice. The work was done quickly, and there have been no issues with the windshield. My one concern is that my dashboard was scratched during installation. The layer exposed by the scratch is a different color than than the surface color so this scratch is VERY noticeable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional, thorough, courteous service I had a crack in my windshield which was too long to be repaired, so the whole windshield had to be replaced. I took my car into the Safelite location, and very soon after they began working on my car, Brandon asked me to come take a look at something they'd found. As they had begun to remove the weatherstripping, the technician had seen rust. Brandon explained to me that this was probably caused by the windshield having been previously replaced (prior to my buying the car) with lower standards for correcting in scratches in the paint and less careful sealing than ought to have been done. He further explained that if the total rust area was less than - I forget the exact parameter now, it was about 24 square inches, that the technician would be able to correct it and continue with the new windshield installation, but if it was more than that, it would have to be repaired by a body shop. Every detail of the situation was carefully and fully explained to me, and I opted to proceed. It turned out that my car did need to be repaired at a body shop. Brandon offered to waive the mobile repair fee and have the windshield installed at the body shop upon completion of the work, which I thought was really terrific. He said that all I needed to do was call and the installation would be completed on an ASAP basis. I arranged to have my car towed to the body shop and the Safelite team gave me a ride home. My body shop called me Thursday afternoon, January 29th to let me know the repair was complete The installation was completed on Friday, January 3-th. I had a completely wonderful experience with the local Safelite team. I did have difficulty contacting them to let them know that the body work was complete. I attempted to find a local number for the shop, but could only find the central 800 number. I found the 800 number service frustrating to navigate through. Once I did, and explained the whole situation, the customer service rep first told me that I would be charged for the mobile installation. I explained the situation again, and told her that Brandon at the local Safelite had told me the fee would be waived. She put me on hold for a very long time while she called the local store. I want to stress again that she put me on hold for a very, very long time. When she came back on the line, she said that the mobile installation fee was indeed waived and that the earliest mobile installation available was Wednesday, February 4th! I told her that there was really no way I could be without my car that long. She put me on hold again for a very long time, and again I want to stress that it was a very, very long time. When she came back on the line she told me that the installation would be completed sometime the next day before 5:00 pm. She was professional, helpful, and courteous at all times, but it's ridiculous of Safelite to force its customers to endure such long hold times just to complete an arrangement that I had already entered into with the local Safelite operation. Why make it so difficult? So, kudos to the local Springfield operation, kudos to your telephone customer service reps, rotten tomatoes to the Safelite management team that put such a cumbersome system into place.
