Rated 3 out of 5 by from Right the Second Time After a car break-in I had to have my drivers side window replaced. Since my windshield was cracked I figured I'd have that replaced at the same time. Called Friday morning early, they couldn't send someone out until the following Tuesday afternoon. Little chilly in mid December to drive around without a window so the gentleman on the phone said I could bring it in that afternoon and have it done. He asked a few questions, including whether the current windshield had the blue tint at the top. Yes, it did. You see where I'm going , right? Drove the 40 minutes to the service center, left me keys and went for a walk. Credit to the service center folks, they were very nice and got it done ahead of schedule. When I paid and got in the car to leave, first thing I noticed was it seemed brighter than normal. Hmmm... there's no tint at the top of the windshield. Back inside, they would be out to my house in a week with a tinted windshield to replace this one. A week later and my vehicle is back to where it should be. Everyone was very nice, very cooperative, just wish someone had double checked prior to putting the wrong windshield in. Made a frustrating experience just a little more difficult.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not What I Expected I had a nickel-sized rock chip in my windshield that based off advertisements, the website and speaking with representatives, would be able to be fixed with no problem. Once I arrived at the St. Louis location, the female worker at the desk was not very polite and she told me that they could probably only improve it from 40-80% and if they broke my windshield while trying that I was responsible. I understand all of this, I only wish that I would have been notified of this when I made the appointment, not after arriving at the shop - disappointing. Next, I waited for over an hour, when I was told it would be 30 minutes...again I didn't really mind the wait, just wish I would have had a realistic estimate in order to manage my day better - disappointing. The biggest disappointment was when I saw it and realized I only fell in the 40% range of looking better. Yes, there is no longer a "larger" impact point and it is sealed, but now I have a gray smudge with cracks all around it. From what I understand, for the type of crack I had, this is the best anyone could do and I appreciate the hard work that the technicians did, but this was not explained by Safelite or what I (or my friends or family) expected based off advertisements and the website. I would have preferred to have been told ahead of time that it would only be sealed and minimally improved visually, versus saying that they can "fix" cracks that are smaller than a dollar bill. My crack is not what I would call "fixed", only sealed. I was told that if I was not happy, that I had a "warranty". This means I can use what I already spent there and apply it to a new windshield. So not only is this not a warranty, it's not even a money back guarantee...again disappointed. After speaking about all of this with one of the technicians, he did his best to explain it all, but it was just a little to late, as the service was already completed. What it comes down to is that at first I had no idea what to expect in getting a windshield repaired. After looking at Safelite's website and speaking with reps over they phone, I developed high expectations for Safelite, and they were not fulfilled.
