Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School & Safelite AutoGlass Team Up to Support Local Students… and Charities

05-11-2016

MECHANICSBURG, Penn. – Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School (CPAVTS) and the local Safelite AutoGlass® are building a stronger partnership in order to help both students and the community.

On May 14, 2016, Safelite is helping to co-sponsor a car show at CPAVTS located at 110 Old Willow Mill Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 7050. The proceeds will benefit the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors with more than 95% of the proceeds being given to our veterans.

Earlier this spring, other contributions from Safelite included:

  • Vehicle Donation:  Safelite donated an 18-year-old work truck that the students refurbished and sold.  The school donated the materials and labor and the result was a $3,000 donation to Harrisburg Make-A-Wish.
  • Windshield Replacement Demonstration: On April 6, Safelite AutoGlass Technician and regional winner Safelite’s national tech competition Steven Smith demonstrated correct windshield replacement for both the morning and afternoon classes. Almost 100 students attended the demonstrations.  These students represented all of the automotive technology students and all of the collisions students. While fielding questions during the demonstration, District Manager Kirk Reed explained to the students the importance of their appearance, their attire and their attitude during interviews.
  • Job Fair: On April 28, Safelite participated in the school’s annual Job Fair.

“Safelite is a growing company, and we are always looking for talented individuals to join our team,” said Safelite AutoGlass Area Sales Manager Pat Midgley, who is managing the day-to-day partnership with CPAVTS. “What a better place than this school to find our future technicians while also doing some great things to support our local charities. I give many thanks to Jared Comeau, Automotive Technology Instructor, for this partnership.”
