Safelite Employees Give Back to the Community

11-29-2010

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Safelite AutoGlass® - the nation's leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services – held its first-ever National Giving Campaign between November 8-19, raising funds for charities around the country.

While the corporate office in Columbus, Ohio, has celebrated an annual charitable giving week for many years, this is the first year Safelite’s employees from all areas of the business had a chance to raise funds for the charities of their choosing. Thanks to the logistical support of the United Way, funds are directed to charities of choice nationwide.

During National Giving Week, employees in the Columbus office also raised funds for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank totaling more than 750 turkeys to provide for local families in need during this Thanksgiving season.

"This campaign marks the beginning of a new way of giving for our company. It is one that expands our reach to local communities across the country and provides our associates with more choices with how they can give," said Safelite® president and CEO Tom Feeney. "We hope to provide a new outlook for those less fortunate in the communities where we live and work."

The National Giving Campaign is a result of an internal survey showing that employees are extremely passionate about supporting worthy charities in their immediate communities.

Examples of some of the fundraisers include:

  • Food eating contest
  • Bake sale
  • Root beer float sale

Raffles for prizes including two round-trip airline tickets, an opportunity to be an extra in Safelite’s advertising, flower bouquet and more.
