Charlotte Market Takes Stance Against Domestic Violence

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by a close friend, relative or intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.

Helping those facing domestic violence is a serious issue. It requires sensitivity. A caring heart. And, it’s a cause our Charlotte team is addressing.

The market is now partners with Safe Alliance, a charitable organization helps victims of domestic violence build safe and healthy relationships through a continuum of shelter, legal and advocacy services.

Women are 70 times more likely to have their property damaged in the two weeks after leaving an unsafe situation. A busted windshield for instance. Safelite AutoGlass has agreed to provide services to those being helped by Safe Alliance if the need arises.

Technicians Joe and George recently served our first Safe Alliance customer. A mother had her three-year-old daughter in the car as they tried to escape a violent situation. Her glass was shattered. Because of Safe Alliance, both are now safe at a secure facility.

Safe Alliance Community Outreach Coordinator Brittney Bogues said, “Thank you Safelite AutoGlass team for replacing a client’s window today. We are so grateful for our new partnership. Today you made one less worry for a victim of domestic violence; that is impactful and priceless.”

Area Sales Manager Stephanie W. led the partnership effort. “This has been an extremely humbling experience so far,” she shared. “They say the first step to peace and unity in this hectic world is to ‘go home and love your family.’ We support Safe Alliance because it is where hope and healing begin.”

This coming Christmas, the Charlotte team will also collect toys for all the children in the Safe Alliance local shelters. To bring a “real” Christmas to children in these shelters gives them another pocket of hope.

Stephanie has also asked all Safelite associates to advocate “Men for Change.” This verbal pledge taken states that domestic violence will not be tolerated and we will take a stand to be the change to make home a safe place.
