Safelite AutoGlass Foundation honors its legacy of giving at Charity Classic Golf Tournament

11-06-2018

Columbus, Ohio — The Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation celebrated its eighth annual Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Oct. 1-2, 2018.

More than 250 Safelite leaders, business partners and charity representatives came together to enjoy dinner and golf while raising money for the Foundation’s Impact Grant Program. The program provides non-budgeted gifts of up to $25,000 that allow a charitable organization to make a significant impact in its community.

Since 2011, the Charity Classic has helped the Foundation generate and distribute more than $3 million through 121 impact grants. This year, the event raised a record-breaking $1.4 million.

“Our donors truly live up to this year’s theme, A Legacy of Giving, which represents far more than simply a generous contribution to our Foundation,” said Tom Feeney, Safelite Group President and CEO. “Giving isn’t just a one-time activity. It’s a commitment, and it’s part of our culture at Safelite. By partnering together, we are creating a legacy in what has become a dynamic and moving wave of change.”

In 2017, the Foundation awarded $825,000 in impact grants to 33 organizations in central Ohio and across the country. With the help of Safelite’s generous business partners and internal fundraisers, the Foundation is able to provide these grants in addition to its gift-giving throughout the year.

In central Ohio, 4-Paws for Ability, which provides service dogs to children with disabilities and veterans, and Local Matters, which provides food education, access and advocacy to help build healthy communities, are two of the organizations newly touched by these generous grants. They join the growing list of grant recipients across the nation, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House of Central Indiana and the Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center.

“Thanks to this event and the wonderful partnerships with our sponsors, we will have the privilege of designating even more grants to charitable organizations that are enriching our communities through their programs, opportunities and passion for the health and well-being of families,” Feeney said.
