Safelite AutoGlass Names National Champions
- Technician Champion: Brandon Rene, Salt Lake City Technician Runner-up: Mike Stakes, Phoenix
- CSR (Safelite® Sales): Wendy Powers, Columbus, Ohio
- CSR (Safelite® Referral): Angie Miller, Columbus, Ohio
- CSR (Safelite® Field Service): Amanda Kerley, St. Louis
The competition took place on February 8, 2012, bringing together the top 12 technicians and top 9 CSRs in a head-to-head challenge in New Orleans. The competition is based on skill, quality and service.
Rene won $10,000 and will represent Safelite AutoGlass® in the international Best of Belron® Competition, a bi-annual tournament hosted by Safelite’s parent company, which includes champions from each of its 32 represented countries.
Rene is the returning champion of Safelite’s Northwest Division, working as a technician in the Salt Lake City area. He also participated in Safelite’s last national competition in 2010, where he placed fifth. Rene has 15 years of industry experience and still considers every day at work a new adventure.
"I can honestly say that any of these guys could have won and done a great job representing Safelite® in Barcelona," Rene said.
Rene plans to donate a portion of his winnings to the Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation. He has been on the company’s fundraising triathlon team in the past and really appreciates the value of the charity.
The CSR winners – Powers, Miller and Kerley – each received a $2,500 cash prize.
Powers, a Cincinnati native, has made a career in customer service roles. She says she plans to use the winnings for home improvements and decorating.
Kerley of St. Louis has nearly 10 years of experience in the industry. Her husband who’s a Safelite® technician, Steve, previously competed in the 2009 Midwest Division competition of the Safelite® competition.
Miller of Columbus has been with Safelite® for 13 years and says she hopes to make a trip to Jamaica with her prize money.
"Congratulations to our winners. Many have trained for nearly a year to prepare for this competition on top of their daily work. At Safelite AutoGlass®, we strive to hire the best people, and all of our participants illustrate the excellent customer focus that has made us a leader in our industry," said Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Safelite AutoGlass®. "This competition is a fun, motivational way to demonstrate what a quality windshield replacement means to customers and what quality employees mean to us as a business. We are proud to have these individuals on our team."
