In shop service. Fast. Professional. Courteous. Easy scheduling on website with a few minor compaints in the way pricing is displayed during the process ('recycling fees') are added in after the initial service selection resulting in a higher price from that shown on the service selection page --even accounting for taxes-- but the price difference is not explained (itemized) until the final detailed receipt. . . ) A question with replacement auto glass esp windshields from third party shops like Safelite is what quality and brand of glass will be used. For my VW, Safelite used Fuyao brand (Chinese company but made in America. Fuyao on their website states they are an OEM supplier to many US and European car makers including VW). Quality: Noted that the windshield has severe edge distortion at the bottom half-inch or so, resulting in a 'running water' effect when in motion and looking just over the hood horizon. A dashmat partially blocks this, and to be fair my brain dialed this out after a few miles. Note that in many vehicles the bottom edge may be below the horizon of the dashboard and not visible to the driver. Glass seems OK otherwise with very slight vertical distortion in side to side head movements that I had to look carefully to find -- 99. 9% of folks would never notice--only engineer perfectionists like myself. Glass does seem clearer than the OEM Vitro it replaced (of course it is new) but also seems to have a slightly 'tinted' hue that is more pleasant to look through than the OEM was. (yes, windshield glass is not supposed to be tinted, but it's a subtle effect; I have another same year and model VW and the A-B comparison confirmed the difference. ) Bottom line--overall and especially for the price--and combined with the outstanding service (really, the way all service should be)-- this 'perfectionist engineer' is very satisfied!
