Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible customer service In short, if you choose to use OEM, use another company or be willing to wait a month for the glass. The long story... My windshield replacement order was sent to Safelite from my insurance company on October 10th and an appointment was scheduled for the following day. Got a call (the only call from them other than the call to schedule the appointment on the 7th of November) canceling the appointment an hour ahead stating that the windshield had not come in yet. Fair enough since I requested OEM glass so I expected a little delay. After no updates for 7 days following the cancelation, I called them on the 17th to be told I had to call another number because "my store doesn't place the orders". Was sent the number and made the call to hear from yet another person the part number had changed so there would be an additional delay but the windshield should be in on October 31st. I would assume since auto glass is their business and part numbers change on a regular basis that this would have been checked but based on my experience to date, not surprised this didn't happen. No call again on October 31st so I call them to check on status. "Still in transit" and "I have no idea when it will be here". Could you possibly check on tracking for a customer that has been waiting 11 days due to an ordering mistake on your part? No call again on the 1st which was the new date the windshield was promised (by someone in the Escondido store) so I tried to call them. First, directly to the San Diego location that apparently places orders to hear a recoding saying the store was closed for the day. A second call to the Escondido store where it was confirmed that the person who does the ordering was out of the office for the day. I was told I needed to call back as opposed to offering to contact me. Again, customer service completely lacking and no empathy for the 12 day delay on getting my windshield replaced and apparently a national glass company that doesn't have computers to track orders... I'm sure they have computers to take your money. I gave up on ever hearing back expecting I would need to take my car to the dealer upon my return from a business trip when someone actually called to schedule the appointment for the 7th of November. A full 28 days from the claim being submitted and 27 days from the original appointment. The installer was fantastic but cant make up for the complete failure of everyone else at Safelite I had to deal with. Do yourself a favor if you are looking for an OEM replacement and have your dealer do the work. You will have to take your car to them but your insurance company can't tell you where to take your business and you can avoid the headache associated with Safelite if you choose to use OEM parts.
