Rated 1 out of 5 by from All Around Bad Experience. I recently used Safelite to replace the rear sliding window unit on my F-150 truck. I was on the road working in Pennsylvania and had my rear window completely shatter on both sides of the sliding section with glass scattered all over the bed of the truck and the back seat/floor. I went through my insurance company to set up an appointment with Safelite to have the back glass replaced and the setup process was a breeze. Safelite said it was no problem to schedule a morning appointment for the next day and have one of their mobile service technicians come to my work. The day of the appointment, I get a phone call from the technician saying that although I had a morning scheduled appointment, they don't actually have the replacement window in-stock, so he won't be able to make it until the afternoon once the part comes in. I'm slightly irritated that they would even schedule a job to be done without first verifying their inventory, but I'm at work all day so I tell him it's no problem to come in the afternoon. I go back to work and expect a phone call when the part comes in like I was told would happen. I get no phone call. I call the service tech back around 3-4 pm and ask for an update and he says, oh yeah, the part is in but I'm on another job right now and have another one after this and will head your way after that one. I said okay and went back to work. I don't get a phone call until 6:45 pm, as I am leaving work, saying he is about to head my way and it will take 30-45 minutes to get there. I am quite angry at this point because I went from having a scheduled morning appointment to getting bumped down the list and not getting serviced at all because Safelite screwed up. I tell him I am leaving work and that he will have to come the next day, to which he agrees to come first thing in the morning. The next day I get to work and it is raining, with rain in the forecast for the full day. Service tech calls and offers to come pick up my truck from work and drive it to a local shop to replace the window indoors. I am hesitant to allow someone to take my truck, but reluctantly agree because I have no other option. The quoted ~90 minute job took almost 3 hours before my truck was returned to my work. The service tech said something about my window being a bolt in unit but the broken one had been glued in and was very difficult to remove and that's why it took so long. After returning my keys and having me sign the paper work, he told me that he had vacuumed up as much of the glass as he could and made it a point to tell me that he had washed my windows because that's one of the major things they ask on the review I would get in my e-mail. I said okay thank you and had to go back to work without being able to inspect the truck. After work, I come out to my truck and take a quick look in the back seat/floor and see that he did not hardly vacuum at all. There were large chunks of glass scattered all over the floor in plain sight. There were a lot of fine shards of glass all over the rear seat that were clearly visible in the sunlight. I then look in the bed of the truck and there were piles of glass that he never attempted to clean up. Steaming mad, I get in my truck to leave work and realize that my front windshield and front passenger windows have not been washed. Either the service tech lied about washing my windows to get a good review, or intentionally mislead me to believe he washed all the windows and only actually washed the new one he installed. Overall, I am very unsatisfied with the "service" I received from Safelite and will be using another company next time I have another window replacement need. I spent about 2 hours vacuuming all of the glass out of the bed of my truck and the rear seat/floor.
